MANATEES ALONG THE SHORELINE - The gray things in the water in front of the shoreline are manatees. Manatees spend the winters in the constant 72 degree waters of Blue Spring, only going out to the cold St. John's River to feed. They usually arrive sometime in November, and will remain in this naturally heated sanctuary until mid-March, when the temperatures get warmer and the river heats up a bit.
